Academic Journey
I am Dr. Omoye Mary Akhagba, a sociologist, researcher, and lecturer specializing in health communication, migration studies, and media analysis. Currently affiliated with Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, Poland, I hold a Ph.D. in Sociology from the Polish Academy of Sciences (2019), where my interdisciplinary research explored socio-cultural factors influencing Nigerian migrant women’s attitudes toward cervical cancer prevention in Poland. My academic journey includes an MA in Culture, Media, and Society from the same institution and a BSc in Public Relations and Advertising from Lagos State University, Nigeria.
As a Lecturer and Researcher since 2019, I design and teach advanced courses in sociology, research methods, and digital transformation while supervising MA and BA theses. I integrate innovative pedagogical tools like Moodle, MIRO, and Brilliantly to enhance learning. My international collaborations include coordinating a Cross-Cultural Communications Initiative with MacEwan University (Canada) and ESCA University (Morocco), as well as Erasmus teaching mobility at Masaryk University (Czech Republic).
Beyond academia, I coordinate EU-funded projects (Erasmus, AMIF) and volunteer with organizations supporting migrants in Poland. Proficient in qualitative tools like MAXQDA and Atlas-ti, I bridge sociology, anthropology, and media studies to advance health equity. My commitment to fostering cross-cultural understanding drives both my academic and humanitarian efforts.
